2015 GO! ST. LOUIS CHARITY PROGRAM – GO! FOR A CAUSE CONTRIBUTES MORE THAN $350,000 TO 26 LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Program Has Generated Close to Two Million Dollars in Six Years

ST. LOUIS (MO) – June 8, 2015 – GO! St. Louis, a local non-profit organization that specializes in providing fitness events and programs for the region on a year-round basis, announced today that the GO! for a Cause charity program helped 26 area charities raise $350,000 for their causes as part of the 15th Annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend.

The program debuted in 2010, and continues to expand each year to include new charities and opportunities for official partners to increase fundraising and visibility for their cause. Since the program’s inception, $1,925,754 has been raised for a variety of local charities.

“The GO! For a Cause program provided JDRF a great new way to meet and engage donors, as we built a volunteer committee of avid runners who recruited participants and collectively raised over $104,000 since 2014,” said Ally Bartholomew, JDRF Development Manager. “In addition it created new connections unknown to JDRF and opened doors to future opportunities in the local business community. We are looking forward to returning in 2016!”

GO! for a Cause encourages other non-profit organizations to recruit stakeholders to participate in the annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, while raising donations for a charity. GO! St. Louis partners with charities by providing them the tools to implement the program, while promoting their participation through social media and traditional marketing. In 2015, more than 1,000 runners and walkers participated in the program on behalf of a selected charity.
